Tarun Gogoi criticises BJP government in State for eviction drive at Amchang Wildlife Sanctuary Tarun Gogoi criticises BJP government in State for eviction drive at Amchang Wildlife Sanctuary Former Assam Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Tarun Gogoi on Tuesday addressed a press conference on eviction drive at Amchang Wildlife Sanctuary in Guwahati. Addressing the conference the Ex-CM thrashed the Sarbananda Sonowal led BJP government in the State for allegedly evicting the indigenous people residing areas near the Amchang Wildlife Sanctuary. “The BJP won in Assam promising to protect the indigenous people’s jati, mati and bheti (community, home and hearth). But now they are evicting the houses of the indigenous people,” said Gogoi. “The government should have arranged proper steps in re-establishing the people before evicting their houses,” he said, adding, “It (government) should have asked for more time from the Gauhati High Court before taking this step.” Demanding compensation for the people, Tarun Gogoi alleged that administration has violated human rights in those areas. “This is an anti-indigenous people’s government, they can provide land to Ramdev’s Patanjali, but not to the people of own soil,” said the senior leader of Congress.
